Timeless Treason
Doug De Vries
September 12, 2004
I didn't know I was dreaming
Until I woke up screaming
Crawling in a pool of black
Writhing from front to back
The scene seemed so real
Like the unfeeling bite of steel
Fallind deeper within my mind
Seeing like I once was blind
Deeper into time without reason
Finding myself guilty of timeless treason
Memories are picking me apart
Stabbing deeply in my hidden heart
Never realizing I was always seen
My solitude was a poor screen
It seems I'm now far too late
As death has come to be my fate
Even if I spilled all my blood
It would not suffice to stem the flood
Condemned to the fire, as I am
Appeals fall deaf to son of man
But from fear in dark of night
I woke sudden into bright light
Even as I lay glistened with tears
I gave confession to all my fears

a metaphorical dream/nightmare etched into verse... enjoy

No offence, I've always loved your poetry its just that this one rhymes too much for my liking and it doesn't dig deep because of that......
